TK Sundari Ravindran

TK Sundari Ravindran has a PhD in Applied Economics from the Centre for Development Studies, Trivandrum, Kerala, India. She is currently honorary professor at the Achutha Menon Centre for Health Science Studies, Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Trivandrum.

Sundari has worked extensively internationally and in India as an activist and researcher on gender and health equity issues with a focus on sexual and reproductive health and rights. She has several publications including books to her credit. Sundari was co-editor of the journal Reproductive Health Matters from 1992-98, and has also worked with the World Health Organization, Geneva and its Regional Offices in New Delhi and Manila in various capacities. She was also a member of the United Nations’ MDG Task Force on Maternal and Child Health.

TK Sundari Ravindran is a founder member of Rural Women’s Social Education Centre (RUWSEC), a grassroots women’s health organization in Tamil Nadu, and has been involved in the organisation’s activities since its inception in 1981 till the present.
