Abstract

The Global Forum engages with young researchers and leaders of tomorrow through the annual essay competition "Young Voices in Research for Health", jointly organized with the well-known journal The Lancet.

This compilation presents the essays of the finalists in the fourth joint essay competition whose topic was Innovating for the health of all – also the theme of Forum 2009, the annual meeting of the Global Forum that takes place in Havana, Cuba, from 16 to 20 November.

New for this year is the Spanish-language competition, which has attracted great interest, and a special section for Cuban essays organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Public Health of Cuba. For their prize, the winners will take part in Forum 2009 so as to contribute the opinions and experience of young researchers to the gathering.
