Social biases in research

Context

Many people are unable to achieve or maintain good health as a result of inequities and social biases based on factors such as ability, class, caste, ethnicity, gender, race, religion and income.

What the Global Forum does

To help uncover such biases in research, the Global Forum has published a powerful tool: The BIAS FREE Framework (Building an Integrative Analytical System for Recognizing and Eliminating InEquities). It helps to design, conduct and interpret research in ways that do not discriminate and produce clear and objective research reports, articles and funding proposals for decision-makers.

The Framework's strength lies in its ability to adapt its lens to hierarchy-rooted biases of all types, including gender, race, ability, class, age, geographical location and sexuality.
