Evidence to policy

Context

Low- and middle-income countries face obstacles to evidence-informed decision-making, including lack of data and evidence; chronic lack of resources; complex health systems; insufficient communication between researchers and policy-makers; and limited technical capacity.

What the Global Forum does

In partnership with the WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean and Johns Hopkins University, the Global Forum conducted a study to understand the perspectives and attitudes of policy-makers in low- and middle-income countries towards the use and impact of research in the performance of the health sector.

The interviews with 80 policy-makers from six countries - Argentina, Egypt, Iran, Malawi, Oman and Singapore - led to 6 recommendations for evidence-informed policy-making.
